On citizens' responsibilities in preventing inflation. Reel 1 dramatizes a family's choice to prevent inflation. Mr. and Mrs. Average (Alan Ladd, Betty Hutton) refuse to buy a house with their war bonds. Mr. and Mrs. Miller (William Bendix, Susan Hayward) ridicule them and buy the house. A speaker compares cost of living figures and explains that war requires reduced civilian spending. Reel 2, Mr. and Mrs. Average, in 1948, show their modern, post-war home to the envious Millers. Revolutionary devices include a glass refrigerator, adjustable lights, a multi-purpose kitchen stove, etc.
